NEW YORKSolid State Logic is finding an entirely new market in house of worship facilities as the complexities of both live sound reinforcement and recording demand SSL quality and capabilities. The C100 and C200 Digital Production Consoles have gotten the nod from the Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) with a C248, Coral Ridge Ministries with a C224 and the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church with a C124. The SSL consoles were specified for their tremendous flexibility, instant reset and sonic specifications tailored for todays high resolution audio requirements.
We are very gratified by the growing interest from the house of worship community in our digital products, says Niall Feldman, director of product marketing for SSL. As the audio requirements grow for many congregations and faith organizations, the design philosophy of SSL embraced by high-end broadcast facilities and recording studios worldwide make our digital consoles the obvious choice to handle these unique situations. The faith-based community is discovering the system power inherent in our digital production consoles and is helping them to gracefully migrate to top level production capabilities.
Trinity Broadcasting Network has installed an SSL C248 in their Costa Mesa, CA facility. The console will primarily handle post production operations and a live television show called, Praise the Lord. The choice of the C200 was based on the consoles ability to easily supply 5.1, stereo and mono mixes of program materials, along with system flexibility and great sound.
With the C200, you have a digital version of an SSL console and that means you have the best in the business, says Rick Maher, sound engineer for TBN. We looked at many different consoles and nothing measured up to the C200. SSL has a great reputation for building workhorse consoles. With the C200, the company has produced a wonderfully versatile digital board that is immediately familiar to anyone who has worked on an SSL analogue console. The C200 gives us the tool we need to proceed into the future.
Coral Ridge Ministries recently added the SSL C224 Digital Production console to their studio in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Coral Ridge Ministries is the radio and television outreach of Dr. D. James Kennedy, a highly regarded Presbyterian minister. Coral Ridge Ministries Truths That Transform radio and Coral Ridge Hour television programs are heard or viewed each week by more than three million people across the U.S. and are also available internationally in 200 nations.
We desire the highest quality live recording and post production, not only for Dr. Kennedys messages, but also for our classical church music performances and studio productions, said John Quarquesso, broadcast operations manager for Coral Ridge Ministries. We anticipate improving our capabilities with the C200. Its an important element in our transition to digital acquisition, audio sweetening and ProTools integration.
The Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church in Fair Oaks, CA, recently installed an SSL C124 Digital Broadcast console to handle the live front of house and recording mix. The C100 stores and recalls the basic set-up for the main Sunday services, which include Senior Pastor G. Henry Wells as well as other assisting pastors, a worship band, vocalists, and chancel choir all directed by Minister of Worship Dr. Chris Alford.
Were mixing all of our services and programs live through the C100 for the main sanctuary of the church, noted Wade Odum, director of Media Technologies for the church. We installed the C100 because it offers us the flexibility to grow our production model into the future. We have many programs with repeat setups that are back to back and the recall capabilities of the C100 streamlines our changeover. We also use the C100 to record the services to digital for tape and CD replication. The C100 handles everything with ease and the sonic quality is terrific.
